Mystery House in Bartlesville, Oklahoma

While driving around looking for the Harold Price Jr. home, I found this wonderful little home.  There are a lot of elements that remind me of Mr. Wright’s work. The beveled glass corners and low-slung roof line are just a few of the Wright-like features.  There’s also a rather organic design sculpture that acts as a sign for the park across the street.

Does anyone have any information about this house?  I’ll post up anything that I find.

Bartlesville Community Center by William Wesley Peters

You can’t visit the Price Tower without noticing the beautiful building across the parking lot.  This performing arts building is the Bartlesville Community Center designed by Wright’s long-time apprentice and son-in-law William Wesley Peters.  Some of the design details remind me a lot of the Grady Gammage Auditorium in Tempe, Arizona. What do you think?

Richard Lloyd-Jones Home

Tulsa Oklahoma is home to the Richard Lloyd-Jones residence.  This home has an amazing history and is very photogenic.  Take a moment to look at the photos and let me know what you think.

Harold Price Jr. Home

Harold Price Jr. son of H.C. Price (of Price Tower fame) had Wright design a home for him in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.  I visited in April of 2006 when I was driving West on a mountain biking trip.

New Price Tower Photos are up.

Good morning.

I’m slowly adding to the web site as I get time.  I’ve recently added photos of Price Tower in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.  I was there in April of 2006 and took the tour.

Welcome to the Frank Lloyd Wright Road Trip Blog.

Frank Lloyd Wright Road Trip has been around for almost 6 years now.  It started as a place for me to post a few photos of Fallingwater, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Home and Studio and the Robie House.  It has grown above and beyond this *just* a bit.

Since 1995 I’ve visited between 200 and 300 Wright buildings and photographed most of them.  They’re all catalogued on the web site.  You can tell the old ones, because the photos are small and rather primative.  My camera wasn’t that great and I was trying to cram as much stuff onto a free 5MB web site as I could.  I’m now up over 500MB of photos on the web site.  I’ve made friendships with some Wright home owners. I’ve pissed a few off too.

I don’t travel as much as I used to.  I’ve visited most of the homes that are easy for me to get to.  I’ll continue to add to the site when I visit new places.  I’d love to hear from you either via comments on this blog, or via e-mail (pedrogringo@yahoo.com).

Thanks for reading!
